Over the years, women's hairstyles have changed so slightly, yet so dramatically. We’ve seen elegant hair styles, and extremely interesting ones too! In the 1920’s, longer hair was believed to be the best hairstyle. Hair accessories became popular and women started wearing anything from hats and bows to headbands and jewelled pins. During this decade it transitioned into admiring the famous ‘bob’.
1940’s hairstyles lived and breathed glamour. Rolling the hair was deemed a hairstyle of class and sophistication, something many women craved to achieve. Rollers would produce soft and feminine looking curls. Another version of rolls which came popular during this roll was the Chignon, which to this day is still viewed as a sleek and classy up do.
During the 1950’s and sleek bun or ponytail was incredibly popular, however towards the end of this decade this transition into the complete opposite. Big back-combed beehives and bouffants were all the rage.
In the 1980’s it was believed to be the bigger the better! Hairspray, mousse and hair gel were in full swing, whatever women could get their hands on to make their hair bigger.
Finally in the 1990’s hairstyles were much more of a relaxed look when compared to the previous decade. Short layered hair was all the rage and everyone suddenly got the chop.
Nowadays the soft waves and sleek, smooth and shiny hair are all the fashion. In all honestly, the current decade is made up of a little bit of everything.
